Roofing Trade Coordination

Roofing trade coordination manages the handoff between our concrete and tilt-wall work and the roofing sub who closes in a building. Parapet wall concrete, roof curb pads for rooftop equipment, tilt panel top-of-wall elevations, and the flashing reveal built into a parapet cap all get set by concrete crews before a roofer ever mobilizes. Getting those elevations and reveals wrong means a roofing sub fighting a substrate that doesn't match their shop drawings. We coordinate directly with the roofing contractor on projects where our concrete scope sets the conditions their work depends on, whether we're subcontracting to the general contractor or working straight for the building owner.

On tilt-wall warehouse and distribution buildings across Wylie and North Texas, parapet height and top-of-wall flatness set the tone for the entire roof membrane installation. A parapet cast a half-inch out of level shows up as ponding water or a flashing gap once the roofing crew is running membrane. We hold top-of-wall tolerances tight on our own tilt panels and cast-in-place parapets specifically because we know what the roofing sub needs to work with, and we walk the deck with their foreman before they start when the project calls for it. Roof curb pads for rooftop HVAC and exhaust equipment follow the same logic as our HVAC coordination scope, sized and set to the mechanical equipment spec so the roofer isn't flashing around a curb that doesn't match.

This coordination role is common on new construction and on re-roof projects where an existing parapet or curb needs concrete repair before a roofing contractor can warranty their membrane over it. Property managers replacing an aging roof system often find deteriorated parapet coping, cracked curb pads, or spalled top-of-wall concrete that the roofer flags before they'll start. We take on that concrete repair scope directly, coordinated to the roofer's install schedule so the building isn't exposed to weather any longer than necessary between trades.

We are not a roofing contractor and do not install membrane, but general contractors and property managers get one fewer schedule conflict when the concrete substrate work and the roofing mobilization are coordinated by the same team that's already on site pouring parapets and curbs. That coordination is priced and scheduled as part of our concrete scope, not as a markup on someone else's roofing contract.
